Granger School District Superintendent Brian Hart presents a Special Recognition certificate to high school teacher Stephanie King in recognition of her recently being awarded the Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Pro-gram award.

GRANGER - Stephanie King, English teacher at Granger High School, has recently been awarded the prestigious Fulbright Award presented by the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

According to King, 62 applicants were selected out of a pool of close to 400. "I knew it was prestigious but when I learned the numbers, it just made it that much more important to me," she said. Prior to this cohort, only nine educators from Washington have been selected, with only one coming from a rural area school.

The Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Program award gives King the opportunity to share knowledge and build connections across communities in the United States and abroad.

The most significant aspect of this award for King is showing students in the community that they have great teachers. "Our students need to know that there are a number of teachers that go out and do amazing things without any recognition all the time."
