The first issue of The Edmonds Paper under the ownership of Paul Archipley.

The beginning of what would become Beacon Publishing and its community of newspapers began 35 years ago, Thursday, Dec. 2, 1986, with the publication of The Edmonds Paper, founded and owned by Daniel Woodside.

In December 1998, Beacon Publishing's Paul Archipley purchased the biweekly paper from Woodside. After keeping the name of the publication for two years, the first edition of the renamed Edmonds Beacon was published in January 2001.

Archipley already had experience in newspaper publishing, having founded The Mukilteo Beacon in July 1992 after many years as a reporter, photographer, and reporter in Southern California.
